Acrylic, pastels on manjarpatta
48 x 56 inches
2025
Displayed at India Art Fair x Young Collector's Programme 2025 with Strangers' House Gallery.
Unlike a primed canvas, which creates a smooth and controlled surface, manjarpatta - the material used for this painting absorbs pigment differently. Allowing for raw textures, bleeding edges and an interplay of transparency and opacity. The broad sweeping gestures allow the brushstrokes to feel organic and expressive, and the layering of transparency and opacity creates depth.
